A limited number of units shipped with firmware 2.00 and there is a risk the UPS can enter a condition in which it reports fan failure followed by a UPS Shutdown thereby causing any attached equipment to lose power. Restarting the unit the will clear the alarm, however the potential remains for the symptom to reoccur after a period of time varying from 2 days to 2 weeks.

Note:  It is not necessary to upgrade to firmware version 2.02 if the UPS is at the original firmware version 1.00 since it does not have this issue. However, this later firmware version has an enhancement to reduce fan speed during float mode thereby reducing fan noise.
