NOTICE: The information in this document, including products and software versions, is current as of the Release Date. This document is subject to change without notice.

Release Date: 2017-06-07

Last Updated: 2017-06-06

DESCRIPTION

Network connectivity issues may be seen while attempting firmware updates on certain HPE Broadcom 1Gb Network Adapters that are connected to an HPE ProLiant Gen9 system with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 installed.

These adapters will fail to get a valid network Internet Protocol (IP) address from the Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server during the firmware flash operation and the system will eventually become unreachable through the network. Any remote sessions started via this adapter will be disconnected.

SCOPE

Any HPE ProLiant Gen9 Server running Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.3 and configured with any of the following Ethernet adapters (running with firmware-nic-broadcom-2.18.15-1.1.x86_64.rpm):

  • HPE Ethernet 1Gb 4-port 331FLR Adapter
  • HPE Ethernet 1Gb 4-port 331T Adapter
  • HPE Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 332T Adapter
  • HPE Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 332i Adapter (2133)
  • HPE Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 330i Adapter (22BD)
  • HPE Ethernet 1Gb 4-Port 331i Adapter (22BE)
  • HPE Ethernet 1Gb 2-port 332i Adapter (22E8)

RESOLUTION

As a workaround, restore network connectivity by rebooting the system or manually re-enabling the connection via Red Hat Network Manager.

This advisory will be updated when additional solutions become available.
