Problems Fixed:

Resolved a processor issue where an unlikely and complex sequence of conditions operating in 64-bit mode could result in an application-level error, blue screen, kernel panic, or other unpredictable system behavior. This issue affects platforms utilizing Intel Xeon 5200-series, and Intel Xeon 5400-series processors. This issue is not unique to HP ProLiant servers and could impact any system using affected processors. This revision of the System ROM contains an updated version of Intel microcode for affected processors that addresses this issue. Due to the potential severity of the issue addressed in this revision of the System ROM, this System ROM upgrade is considered a critical fix. HP strongly recommends immediate update to firmware revisions with required critical fixes.

Known Issues:

None

Version:2009.07.27(A) (25 Aug 2009)
Fixes

Upgrade Requirement:
Recommended - HPE recommends users update to this version at their earliest convenience.

Resolved an issue where there was not enough option ROM space available when two NC522 NICs or one NC522 NIC and a Smart Array P410 were installed in the server. This issue resulted in a POST error message indicating that there is not enough memory for the PCI option ROMs and the embedded NICs and SATA controller would not be loaded.

Resolved an issue where the system would not boot with a Brocade PCIe FC HBA 815/825 HBA installed in the system.

Resolved an issue where changing the System Date in the BIOS Setup Menu could result in abnormal times reported in the System Event Log (SEL).

NOTE--BMC version 3.11 must be installed on the DL160 G5 before upgrading to this version 2009.07.27 BIOS.

Enhancements

Added support for BMC version 3.11.

Version:2008.10.10 (B) (15 Dec 2008)
Fixes

Resolved an issue where PCI-E Nonfatal and Fatal errors were not resulting in an NMI.

Updated the BIOS Setup menu to replace the "Remote Access" text with "BIOS Serial Console".

Resolved an issue where loading GUI in SLES9 32&64bit SP4 takes long time.

Enhancements
Added support for the latest Intel processors.

Added support in the BIOS setup menu to enable or disable the hard disk (HDD) write cache.

Added support in the BIOS SETUP menu to enable/disable Native Command Queuing (NCQ).

Version:2008.08.22 (A) (15 Sep 2008)

Resolved an issue where, in some circumstances, the system was halting during POST after rebooting from the BIOS Setup menu.

Resolved an issue where the system hangs at POST with certain configurations utilizing a P400 array controller with 5.20 or greater firmware. System would hang at the P400 initialization screen.

Enhancements
Added support for the latest Intel processors.

Added support in the BIOS setup menu to enable or disable the hard disk (HDD) write cache.

Added BIOS SETUP support to add NCQ enable/disable.

Version:2008.04.09 (A) (18 Apr 2008)
Fixes
Resolved an issue where in some rare cases the system fans would not ramp up to maximum speed.

Resolved an issue where the BIOS would not attempt to boot a PXE server if the first boot attempt failed.

Resolved an issue where if a new HDD was added to the system, it would not be appropriately added to the bottom of the boot order.

Resolved an issue where the incorrect slot ID was being presented during POST if you add an "HP 8 Internal Port SAS HBA" card.

Enhancements
Added feature in ROM Based Setup to disable both embedded NIC 1 and 2.

Added the ability to support just 5 fans in low power system configurations.

Version:2008.01.31 (A) (1 Feb 2008)
Fixes
Updated the support code for the Dual-Core Intel Xeon 5200-series and Quad-Core Intel Xeon 5400-series processors. This System ROM version integrates a new version of the Intel support code that addresses an issue that may result in a Machine Check Exception (MCE) or system hang. This issue requires a rare set of conditions, resulting in a low probability of occurrence. The issue is not specific to any software application or operating system environment. This System ROM has minimal to no performance impact on affected processors and is a complete and comprehensive resolution of this issue. This issue does not affect the Dual-Core Intel Xeon 5000-series, Dual-Core Intel Xeon 5100-series, or Quad-Core Intel Xeon 5300-series processors, and this System ROM upgrade does not affect operation of these processors in any manner. Additional information on this erratum can be found on Intel’s public website and in a Hewlett-Packard Customer Advisory.
